Photograph caption dated November 9, 1964 reads, "Valley smashup - Eight cars tangled in this accident on the westbound Ventura Freeway at 6 a.m. today near Griffith Park in Burbank. Four injured were taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank. Police blamed slick surfaces for the accident. Traffic was tied up nearly 1 1/2 hours."
