Description
Landscaped grounds and a path leading up to a two-story house of Colonel E. J. C. Kewen on the El Molino estate in San Gabriel (now San Marino, California). Trees obscure most of structure, except for the entrance, and a second story balcony on which several men stand. To the right, is a man stands in the path next to a horse-drawn carriage.
Title transcribed from the front of photo-mount. Date devised by cataloger; Watkins made two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880. Printed on photo-mount under title: "From Watkins' Yosemite Art Gallery, Portrait and Landscape, 26 Montgomery Street, opp, Like House Entrance, S.F." Image corresponds with Watkins New Series stereo, unnumbered, referred to as, "Residence of Col. Kewen."
