Kenneth Hopper writes Mr. B. Inoue, of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd., saying that Mr. Protzman has been telling him to provide Inoue with some details of the personal background to his writing. He explains that he had a serious illness in 1970 and that it limited his work to making brooms at a colonial museum village in New Jersey. He shares that because of this illness, Dr. Drucker introduced him to Mr. Polkinghorn and Mr. Takeo Kato. Hopper says he was able to re-establish some excellent contacts with American business. He goes on to say that he is concentrating on writing a book in which he would like to write the end of the book first, discussing Japanese management.
