Description
Bust-length portrait. 1990-1720. Born in Maine in 1832. Arrived in Yuba County in 1851. Ran store in Galena Hill, banking in Camptonville. In 1861 settled in Marysville, operating a banking house, Rideout & Smith, later Rideout Bank. Operated numerous banks in Northern California, vice president of Sperry Flour Co., director Yosemite Railway Co., owned line of steamers. Served as Mayer of Marysville, supervisor of Yuba County. Died in 1907.
