Writing on the back of the photo identifies this as "The first art museum in Los Angeles". It appears to be the home of artist Paul De Longpre, located at the present site of De Longpre Park in Hollywood. De Longpre sold his paintings primarily to tourists visiting Los Angeles. Note the elaborate furnishings of the period, including drapes, lamps, rugs and furniture. The portraits shown appear to be of U.S. Presidents Ulysses S. Grant, on the right, and Rutherford B. Hayes, on the left.
