Description
Rollene Saal discusses her book, “The New York Public Library Guide to Reading Groups.” She begins by explaining that the New York Public Library started their reading groups for women who had children and wanted to read together. She talks about how to start a book group and who to invite. She advises that a book group should have similar goals and should discuss what kind of books to read, what time to meet, and the frequency of meetings. She describes her career as the Editor and Chief at the Literary Guild and Bantam Books. Saal includes several book lists in her guide, and recommends that a reading group read both popular and obscure works. She ends the interview by describing the different types of people who join a book group.
