Description
Louis Kado grew up in Hollywood and Santa Monica until, as a high school student, his family was ordered to Manzanar. In this interview, Kado recalls his father, Ryozo Kado’s, immigration experience, Catholic faith, and training and work as a landscape designer, including at Manzanar War Relocation Center, where the elder Kado designed and oversaw construction of the cemetery monument, sentry posts, and several gardens.
