Photograph caption dated December 14, 1955 reads, "Looks pretty slick - Lettered plates for Valley motorists for 1956 are displayed for the first time in San Fernando, branch office of the Motor Vehicle Department, by Mmes. Iva Faxon and Lois Norlin, cashiers on duty. Personnel of all vehicle offices have been augmented to handle the anticipated rush of purchasers of new yellow and black plates, first of regulation size since 1951."
