Description
Martinson begins the interview by noting how much lighter Big Time is than Montecino’s previous novel. The two go on to discuss the premise of the book, and Martinson asks how much of the protagonist is based on Montecino himself, as both are musicians from New Orleans. She goes on to ask about the meaning of the book’s title, which refers both to making a huge mistake and the success the protagonist always wanted. Montecino then discusses the difference between writing novels and screenplays, noting that movies are much more ridged and structured. They end by discussing Montecino’s early careers in music and writing.
