Description
Jon Seydl discusses his book, “Giambattista Tiepolo.” He begins by explaining that Giambattista Tiepolo was the greatest Italian artist of the eighteenth century. Seydl goes into detail about Tiepolo’s life and art. Tiepolo started painting as a young man in Venice and his career lasted for over seventy years and spanned Europe. Seydl goes on to discuss Tiepolo’s renown for his mythological themes. He then shares that he is working as a curator at the Getty in oil paintings and that this specific project came from a partnership with multiple museums including the Huntington and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Seydl also discusses the provenance of the paintings and sketches and Tiepolo’s tendency to give his work out as gifts. Later in the interview he discusses how every piece of art has a history of its own.
