John Weitz discusses his novel, “Friends in High Places.” He begins by explaining that his book is about a young German man who finds himself immersed in the politics of the Nazi party. He talks about how the man cannot immigrate to the United States because the authorities found photographs that were taken of him with Adolph Hitler. He discusses the research that he did for the book as well as the first hand knowledge he got from his job at the Office of Strategic Services during World War II. Weitz talks about his childhood in Berlin, speaking both English and German, and moving to Los Angeles. He ends the interview by discussing other books he has written and his career as a fashion writer.
