Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated July 28, 1964 reads, "Richard Smith, 13, 7345 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Canoga Park, says his dog Tiger, 2, has been riding this way for a year. Richard said he built the bike specifically for the dog out of two bikes. He said he used to carry the dog on one bike (riding double) but that is against the law. Richard's father, Richard Sr., said his son could carry the dog on the bike as long as it was legal so Richard Jr. made it legal with his special bike. 'He just loves to ride this way,' says Richard. 'People who see him on the bike laugh and say, 'Isn't that cute.'"
