Description
Theophile "Philo" Biane (3/18/1909-3/12/1999) was a renowned California Vinter and proprietor of the Brookside Winery based in Redlands. He could trace his family lineage back three generations to some of the original pioneers of the California wine industry. His great-great-uncle, Theophile Vache, was a French emigre that began cultivating grapes in San Benito County, CA in the late 19th century for the purpose of winemaking along with his brothers Emile and Adolphe, the latter becoming Philo's great-great-grandfather. Philo remained in the wine business his entire life. Philo Biane, the former president of Brookside Winery in Guasti, California identifies photos in the Guasti (Italian Vineyard Company) Photograph Album.
