- Scope/Content: Manuscript. At end of text: "by Sir Thomas Herbert one of the Gentlemen of the Kings bedchamber, ye end of a sad & deplorable history faithfully transcribed from a maniscript [sic] of his own wrighting."
Scope/Content: Manuscript transcription of Sir Thomas Herbert's account of the last years of King Charles, his execution and burial. The transcriber of this volume is unknown, but writes that the text has been "faithfully transcribed" from Herbert's own autograph manuscript. Herbert's account was first published in 1702, and has some slight variations from the text presented here.
Condition: Bound in full brown calf with blind stamping on cover; "Thrednodi{aelig} Carolin{aelig} mss." stamped in gold on spine.
