Newhall, named after businessman Henry Newhall, is the southernmost and oldest district of Santa Clarita. Prior to the 1987 consolidation into the city of Santa Clarita, it was an unincorporated town. Photograph caption dated February 6, 1956 reads "Students and faculty at William S. Hart High School in Newhall examine blueprints for $300,000 cafeteria which will go under construction at school next July. Multi-purpose building will accomodate (sic) 500 students at roll-away tables and chairs which can be pushed back to make room suitable for other activities. Snack bar, teachers' dining room and patio will adjoin the facility."
