Description
Nicholas A. Basbanes discusses his book, “Patience & Fortitude.” He begins by explaining that he named his book after the two lion statues in front of the New York Public Library. He talks about the importance of folios at icons, such as the collected works of William Shakespeare. He discusses new innovative ways libraries are bringing information to the public, such as Internet resources and digitizing books. Basbanes describes the differences between preservation and conservation. He ends the interview by talking about how people revolted after the San Francisco Public Library threw away books due to limited space.
