Description
Bust-length portrait. 1990-1676. Also have negative: no. 9704. Born in Langendiebach, Germany in 1826. Fought in the Mexican War, 1846-47 as landsmen on frigate under Commodore Sloat. Discharged in 1846 at Monterey. Settled first in Sacramento where worked as drayman, later moved to San Francisco. Was member of Volunteer Fire Company No. 6 and Exempt Firemen. Died in 1883.
