Description
John Abramson discusses his book, “Overdo$ed America.” He begins by explaining that doctors have been taught to trust in medical journals, but now the industry has been taken over by commercial interests and doctors do not know where to turn. He discusses why he was inspired to write this book. He explains that he wanted to help people understand that a lot of information that doctors have is biased by drug companies and commercial interests, but that the good news is that most health issues are determined by how people live their lives. He then explores the issues with the drug Vioxx and several other prescription drugs and recalls. Later in the interview he discusses the role of the FDA.
