In this audio recording Peter F. Drucker discusses his ideas on management in his audiobook, “The Nonprofit Drucker.” This tape is part of the series, “Mission and Leadership.” It is entitled, “Leadership Tasks and Leadership Strategies.” Drucker begins by saying that the best leaders are self-made. He talks about how a good leader works with others’ visions and adapts. He discusses the importance of looking at an institution with both a broad and specific gaze. Drucker talks about how to time growth and innovation, and create a schedule of results. He says that a leader’s role is to justify decisions on the behalf of an organization. He ends the talk by advising that a leader should not be able to pick his or her own successor without the consultation of others.
