Description
Sandra begins the interview talking about wanting to poke fun at the fable that New York City is the “only” appropriate place for writers to begin their career not Los Angeles. For the majority of the interview, Sandra discusses some of the topics her essays cover—like working at Disneyland, living in the San Fernando Valley, and shopping at Trader Joes and Ikea—and how these experiences help provide individuality and depth as well as unity, not just sameness, to the greater Los Angeles region. In addition, Sandra talks about some of her personal experiences living in Los Angeles and how they have shaped her understanding of and writing about Los Angeles.
