Description
Pacific Electric Railway streetcar no. 959 on the Venice short line in Santa Monica, California. A sign on the front of the streetcar reads "Venice Short Line."
This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). "Pacific Electric car Santa Monica" is a note from Ernest Marquez written on envelope as it was received. Title based on note from Ernest Marquez; date devised by cataloger based on design of the streetcar and automobiles in the image. The Pacific Electric Railway system of electric streetcars and rail was also known as the Red Car system.
