Photograph was edited for publication purposes Travel Town, an outdoor museum in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, was dedicated in 1952. The Southern Pacific Company, was willing to donate an obsolete locomotive to be the first train on exhibit. The Los Angeles City Recreation and Park Department's museum is visited each week by hundreds of youngsters and adults who are interested in the development of transportation. The focus of the museum is rail transportation, but other items are on display. Photograph caption dated April 28, 1954 reads "Ready to give their votes to Griffith Park's Travel Town as the most popular play spot in Southland are Glendale 4-year-olds, Linda Surnock, left, and Kathy Hayes, who ride the handcar in front of 'The One Spot,' famous old workhorse engine of the Stocton Terminal and Eastern Railroad. Built in 1867, 'the One Spot' was retired to Travel Town after 86 years on the rails."; See images #00121174 through #00121182 for all photos in this series.
