1989-1198. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 6. Corner view of a large three story building; above the first floor on the building it says "Del Monte Hotel"; 2nd and 3rd floors have 8 tall windows with a curved lintel above each window supported by corbels; on side of building 3 undecorated windows on 2nd and 3rd floors; on first floor 8 large arches springing from rectangular uprights define the front; on right corner of building are two signs one atop the other - on top "Saccan Distributing Co. GOLDEN STATE BEER" and below "MEREDITH FISH CO."; a two story building stands next to the principle building on the left; this 2nd buildings has 4 arches on the first floor and 4 tall windows on the second and a roof notch on top; on the extreme left is a one story building. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "first owned by Mrs. Treichler and later by Jacob Schmid...The bldg. was erected in 1859.
