Charles Protzman writes Mr. Inoue saying that his letter to Mr. Hopper was most interesting. He shares that Mr. Hopper first contacted him in 1978 when he was working on a concept for a book comparing management structures in the United States, England, and Japan. Protzman writes that the government has succeeded with the divestiture in doing irreparable harm to our communications network and the public. He goes on to say that he does not know what Western Electric is going to do, but with the new competitive stance and continuing congressional interference, the company is consolidating and shrinking.
