Description
The Valley to Vietnam series, produced by Sacramento Public Library, traces the arc of experience of Vietnam era veterans living in the Sacramento, California area. California kid Randy Chrietzberg moved around the state before settling in San Francisco which offered him a front row seat view to the burgeoning counter culture of the 1960s. However, with Vietnam raging, the draft called and Chrietzberg found himself as the team leader of a Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol, operating out of Pleiku, Republic of Vietnam, with the 1/8 of the 4th Infantry Division. His story - set in the Plei Trap Valley, a place known also as the Valley of Tears - is one of undaunted courage amidst the "fog of war" at its mirkiest.
